Two people are facing charges after a traffic stop and home search in Glenburn on Thursday.

The Penobscot County Sheriff's Office has been involved in an extensive investigation into the sale and use of illegal drugs in Glenburn. As a result of that investigation, two people were arrested:

Officials did not comment on a third person in the vehicle.

The arrests stemmed from an investigation that included a traffic stop just before 5:00 Thursday afternoon on Broadway in Kenduskeag of a vehicle occupied by three people, with Nicholas McDonald behind the wheel. Bangor Police K-9 Officer Taylor Reynolds arrived to assist in the stop and the K-9 alerted on the vehicle, which prompted a search. Officials found a loaded handgun in the glove compartment and Fentanyl powder, that was located between the passenger seat and the door.

While this traffic stop was going on, the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office Special Response Team and the Maine State Police Tactical Team were executing a search warrant on McDonald's residence, which is located on the Pushaw Road in Glenburn. Seized in that search were various amounts of Fentanyl, Oxycodone pills, Methamphetamine, Cocaine, and multiple firearms.

This case remains under investigation.

We'll update this story as more details become available.
